ReadWriteWeb reports that Cloudera and Revolution Analytics are partnering to support R on Hadoop. This is actually what I am studying today, so I’m quite happy to see that R analytics are going to be a part of the Cloudera Hadoop distribution.
While R can currently be used in Hadoop via the streaming interface, by running as simple mappers or reducers, taking full advantage of Hadoop’s scalability and massive parallelism takes some more work. Revolution Analytic’s RevoConnectR collection of packages makes it a lot easier for the R programmer to leverage the advantages of Hadoop.
Just how easy is something I am currently exploring!
